UNIQUE BOUTIQUE

The Unique Boutique opened it doors (well, actually, its tent flaps!) in September.  Each Saturday, the girl's open the gates to their courtyard and sell selected donated items from their beautiful new tent donated by Bruce and Susan Harrell of Balm, FL.  100% of the proceeds from these sales is used to help meet the needs of the girls (food, medical care, propane, gas for the van, etc.).  This is a fabulous way to convert some of our in-kind donations such as men's clothing, women's clothing too 'mature' for our girls, etc. into necessities while simultaneously providing invaluable business experience for the girls.

Proudly wearing their pink baseball caps (embroidered with "Unique Boutique Leogane"), the girls are loving this venture -- they are learning how to operate and manage a small business, how to manage and attractively display inventory, and how to handle and account for money.  They are also learning bookkeeping and banking skills vital to the success of any business.  Many THANKS to SUSAN HARRELL and her team of tireless volunteers from BALM BAPTIST CHURCH in Balm, Florida for their time and seemingly inexhaustible energy as they planned and organized the boutique and for getting the girls off to a great start as future business women.

We also send out BIG KUDOS TO OUR GIRLS for diligently learning the ins and outs of operating this business in such a brief period of time and for putting their all into its success!!
