Life before Christian Girls Home:
Sandra struggles to describe her life before coming to the girls’ home. She is the middle child of ten siblings. Her father had children with more than one woman; and he was not a reliable provider. Sandra says life was never good for her family. Life was a constant struggle for food, clothing and even a safe place to sleep. Sandra told us before coming to the girl’s home, all she had to play with was mud. Now, she loves playing cards and bingo with her new friends.

Favorite Bible verse: Romans 8:31
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Life in the Christian Girls Home:
Sandra is quiet; possibly because there is a language barrier for her not only with her American friends but also among the other residents.  We’re not quite sure why, but it could stem from her not speaking French like many of the girls. 

Sandra says she is now blessed with a stable place to live.  The girls’ home provides her with the best education that she has ever experienced and could never have imagined.  She thrives on the discipline and knowing people care about the person she is becoming.  She describes life at the home being like a family reunion with all the girls joining in Bible study, cooking and cleaning the house. Through the girls’ home, Sondra is beginning to experience a sense of family and community.

Sandra is slow to trust, but when she finally flashes that mega-watt smile of hers; it takes your breath away & steals your heart.
