SANDRA'S NEW BUSINESS

SandraJuly 2010

Even though Sandra seems to have recovered nicely from the hit-and-run accident that nearly killed her in fall 2008, she is still is unable to ride a bicycle from where she lives up on the mountain to school in the city each day.  In our efforts to help our girls become economically self-sufficient, we recently presented Sandra with a brand new motorcycle.   While it will generate income for her, it will also serve as her transportation to and from school.  A driver will rent it from her each day, take her to and from school and then use it to earn a living in the city during the hours she is in school.

We are teaching her how to use this vehicle as a small business – how to allocate the proceeds so that she can tithe, save, and use her profits to save toward a replacement (the average life-span of a motorcycle in Haiti is roughly three years).  The remainder of her funds will help to feed her and two of our other girls, her cousins Louna and Emmanuella.  It is our hope that within a few years she will be able to own several motorcycles and have a thriving business.

Sandra is pictured here with her driver, Junior Marcelus, who is eager to begin working.  PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SUCCESS OF SANDRA’S BUSINESS.
