I am Jerry from St. Matthews, South Carolina. It will be hard, but I'll try to explain just how awesome my first trip to Haiti was (I say my first trip because I plan to go back!)
My first impression was that it was very poor place, yet so beautiful - especially the mountains. The people are very poor but are very open and accepting. They accepted us with open arms.
After being in Haiti, I am reminded that we, in America, are really blessed!! We may have a lot of wants, but Haiti has a lot of needs. Haiti needs our prayers and more. I ask you to pray for Haiti and its people.
When I was in Haiti, I met people making a difference there. We visited a primary school that provides free education for hundreds of kids and employment for nine teachers. There is a very big garden where they grow food to feed the children and to sell at the market in order to buy other needed items. I ask you to pray for these people.
I want to tell to you about the girls in the Girls’ Home. They are very respectful and you can tell they have a great love for Jesus by the way they tell others about Him. I was happy to see that when they go to church, they always have their Bibles with them. I want to thank Rebecca and Jerry for all that they are doing for the girls.
I will never forget my trip to Haiti. I hope and pray that God will allow me to go back in the near future. I love all my brothers and sisters in Christ.
May God Bless You All,
Jerry
Jerry arrived in Haiti with about 20 pounds of candy, a heart as big as all outdoors and a love for Jesus that shone through to all who came in contact with him. His genuine, easy-going manner, ready smile, and hearty laugh quickly endeared him to young and old alike (the pockets-full of candy probably didn’t hurt either!). Jerry says he longs to return to Haiti to further serve God and we believe God longs for him to do just that. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for him.
